Davis rings in New Year volunteering at Tracy's new warming center

On December 15th council gave direction to the City Manager to move forward with executing a contract for up to $250,000 for an organization to run a warming center in the city of Tracy. The contract was awarded to FIX'D Inc., a Veteran's organization founded by Jaime Medina, an Air Force combat Veteran and 5th Generation Tracyite. The temporary warming center is designed to provide respite from the cold during the winter months Tracy's unsheltered residents. The warming center had a soft opening on December 30, 2020 and is expected to remain open daily through March 31, 2021.

The warming center follows COVID-19 safety guidelines, offering medical face mask, gloves, hand sanitizer, and socially-disanced tables and chairs for guest of the center to sit and relax. A projector screen running movies plays for entertainment. Light snacks, coffee and water are also provided. The warming center can safely hold up to 40 persons under COVID-19 guidelines.The warming center is located at Tracy Community Center on East Street and operates from 7pm-7am, 7 days per week.
